Behind the Lens: Footlocker and Air Force Ones

The Force Photography Workshop in Detroit was not just an ordinary event; it was a platform designed to give back to the community, fostering education and inspiration among young photographers. What made it even more special was its focus on highlighting the iconic Air Force 1 shoe, and it was heartening to witness corporations like Footlocker embrace the broader vision of cultivating a genuine culture around athletic wear, their brand, and, of course, shoes.

The day kicked off with a unique touch – special coffee from the talented coffee man, setting the tone for an extraordinary experience. A panel discussion, expertly hosted by Jimmy Goldfingers, unfolded, providing students with invaluable insights and success stories from accomplished professionals like Jenny Risher. The lineup included a who’s who of photographers from the vibrant city of Detroit, each having made significant contributions and carved out their own space in the photography community.

As the videographer tasked with covering the event, I felt fortunate to be in the midst of such creative energy. The day took an exciting turn when we boarded a bus headed downtown to capture shots of the Nike Air Force 1 against the iconic backdrop of the city. Footlocker went the extra mile by providing light boxes to the student photographers, serving as a source of inspiration for their creative endeavors. A big shoutout to Footlocker for their thoughtful support!

However, my experience behind the camera allowed me to capture additional footage throughout the day, culminating in an extended version (above). The decision to create a longer edit was driven by the recognition of the impactful work being done by the team at Footlocker. I always strive to over deliver on projects when it comes to the people who support me.
