Behind the Lens: Political Campaign Advertisement

Lets talk politics.

I typically when it comes to my professional work and marketing my own business, I like to stay away from politics. But when I was approached by Adrienne Picket to produce this political spot for potential Michigan State Representative Jody LaMaccia that all changed.

Working with the Guerilla Politic Marketing team was a great experience when assembling the visuals for this Ad. Adrienne helped storyboard shots and coordinate locations which makes my job behind the lens easier, in return making for a more polished final video. Typically, working with local business talent I take on the pre-production work myself so being hands off with that part helped me focus on capturing the scenarios created.

Locations and times were outlined in detail, this spot was mostly filmed around Oxford, and Lake Orion Michigan. Children were coordinated with the other extras in the video during preproduction. I hired a grip for the day and Adam for sound during the main voice over, filmed on location. So audio had to be perfect, when dealing with the unnoticed sounds of the neighborhood. Luckily Adam is also a professional of his craft. Everyone was easy to work with as I directed them from behind the camera to get the required shots. This was a very professional shoot that I am proud to be apart of. We even hired a makup artist, so you know it’s real.
