Island Life! A Cinematic Journey through Russell Island

It’s always great working with old friends who have grown to be a success in their own right. So when Audrey called me to create a tour of her beloved island, Russell Island, I knew I had to come through.

As a videographer with a passion for showcasing hidden gems, my recent project led me to the enchanting Russell Island, nestled in the embrace of the Saint Claire River. With the privilege of filming and flying a drone over this private Michigan island, I had the opportunity to capture its unique beauty from a perspective that truly does justice to its charm.

In Audrey’s Footsteps: Working with Audrey Stefanko was an absolute delight. Documenting her adventures in real estate on Russell Island has been a treat from the start. Audrey’s commitment to showcasing the island’s exclusive allure is truly commendable, and I felt fortunate to be a part of this project. Through the lens, I witnessed not only the captivating landscapes but also Audrey’s growth as she shared the wonders of this hidden paradise. She has become quite the host of her own video adventure series.

Flying a drone over Russell Island allowed me to unveil its beauty in ways that ground-level shots simply cannot match. The absence of cars on the island created an unspoiled canvas for the drone to glide over, capturing the lush greenery, the meandering river, and the unique layout of the cottages. The bird’s-eye view brought out the intimate connection between the island and the river, a sight that is both calming and awe-inspiring.

Russell Island’s exclusivity, with access limited to property owners and their guests, adds an air of mystery and privilege to the footage. The ferry rides, the golf carts dotting the landscape, and the carefully preserved cottages – all became integral parts of the visual story, painting a picture of a community in harmony with its surroundings.

Audrey’s Impact: Incorporating Audrey’s perspective into the video added depth and authenticity to the narrative. Her dedication to the island and its community is evident. Audrey’s mission to share the Russell Island experience is not only a testament to her love for the place but also contributes to a journey towards gaining more notoriety and visibility on the web.

Working with Audrey not only allowed me to capture the island’s beauty but also witness the growth of a real estate adventurer dedicated to sharing this exclusive slice of paradise with the world. Russell Island, with its charm and allure, has become a timeless story told through the lens, and I am grateful to have been a part of this cinematic journey.

Realtor House Tour Videos

Filming home tours for realtors is always a challenge. The interior of homes are usually too dark for a great video expose. Also, with all the different temperatures of lights available in led- the color temp of the interior lights is usually all different shades. There are a couple things I like to do before filming house tours, which is use supplemental light where I can and try to get a color temp read on rooms before filming them. Outdoors is never a problem as long as its a nice day, with no rain.

Check out the two examples of my house tours filmed below. One was filmed with Chandler of Realteam in Bloomfield Hills. The other was with Zak in Romeo Michigan. I always film these with my DJI Ronin, and one thing I try to avoid is capturing everything on a super wide angle. Sometimes the bent corners of the image is too much distortion.

Why Choose Us? With Realteam Real Estate

As the video producer for a handful of spots and live coverage for Realteam Real Estate- I’ve had the privilege of working alongside a dynamic and ambitious group of young professionals who are reshaping the real estate landscape in southeast Michigan. We created the “Why Choose Realteam” video spot featured here, and many videos used for internal purposes which were mostly live event coverage, team outings, testimonials and more.

The featured video you’re about to watch is a culmination of our collaborative efforts, aimed at setting clear expectations for future clients and showcasing why Realteam Real Estate is the ideal partner in your home-buying journey. I helped guide them with their marking message in this video.

In this video, we delve into the unique perspective Realteam brings to the ever-evolving neighborhoods of southeast Michigan. As the producer, videographer and editor on this project, I also helped draft the scripts. We wanted the voiceover to be authentic and resonate with the Realteam ethos, so we decided to have a team member convey the message. It adds a personal touch, reflecting the genuine nature of the company.

My goal as the video producer has always been to bring a fresh perspective behind the camera, injecting a new look into Realteam’s marketing materials. So as you can see I used fast camera transitions with quick cuts.

Video is a sales tool, not art.

Once I figured out how video could be plugged into the internet in so many different ways, I began to see the value of what a good, targeted video could do for a business. I’m speaking about my experience creating this video, in Atlanta in 2017.

This was just one of the videos I produced with Holly in Marietta Georgia. When I worked at the mortgage broker, she was always a leader in sales. The executive staff decided we should put a video series guiding potential clients, current customers and completed sales along with a step by step video campaign, distributed through an email campaign and customer relationship management tool. Crating multiple videos helped explain her sales process and set expectations for smooth transactions, and educated buyers, creating repeat business for Holly. This happened to be the main piece about her business, setting expectations for future clients, as she mentions her values with business.  Since the time of filming this realtor piece, the potential for further distribution with online video has grown immensely.

Filming as A Traveling Videographer/Marketer

At that time traveling and filming for the broker was easy, because we would fedex film gear down the the realtors office beforehand. Once the shoot was done, I’d box it all back up and ship it back. I would fly with the media and camera on my person. Tripods and sometimes a light would be shipped ahead of the shoot. I’m not sure if that was the most cost effective option, but nowadays depending on the amount of gear, I usually check the extra hard case at the airport. But I still travel with a backpack with the most important things close to my person, which are the cameras and SD memory cards. Managing all the gear through the airport can be stressful but hey, rarely is travel ever stress free.

My first time to Nashville as a traveling videographer.

It was my first time in Nashville filming this Realtor video for Ryan Stackhouse. Producing this realtor video was a great experience, further sharpening my skills as a videographer on the road. I actually produced this piece will a small gimbal called a DJI Osmo. It shot in 4k and produced a decent result when I didn’t want to travel with a gimbal ubt needed a steady result.

During my time at the mortgage company, I basically managed myself and set my own expectation for my employment there. As online video was also an emerging medium at the time, being on the cutting edge of video marketing eventually paid off. One thing I learned while working as the videographer, photographer and web support at the mortgage broker shop was how much the business world wanted to use video to benefit their business, but they didn’t know how. So overtime continued to gain the knowledge required to effectively spread a message and increase visibility across the web.

Now, in a web world that make you pay to play, it’s all about visibility. Photos and video content is great, but you’ve got to be able to put that to work for your business. Making social media posts alone is great, but utilizing that content to its full potential is even better. And that what we specialize in now here at Breaker Digital Marketing. Not only can we produce the content for social media, but we’ll make sure it lives in all the right places, to benefit your business.

Realtor & Real Estate Content Marketing by Breaker Digital

As an early filmmaker/ marketer I had the incredible opportunity to delve into the world of real estate during and after my corporate job experience. For these productions I’d decide with the business what questions to answer on camera, and we’d come up with some scenarios to capture b-roll. I’d usually film everything needed in about four to five hours.  I filmed this with a couple of Canon 6d DSLR cameras and a ronin stabilizer.

Behind the Scenes: Interviewing Tracy Myers and Dominic Comer provided invaluable insights into the world of real estate. Their enthusiasm for helping people find their dream homes or navigate the challenges of selling is a true passion. Through candid conversations, I aimed to convey the genuine care they have for their clients and the satisfaction they derive from being a part of their journeys. This made the interview process easy.

The office served as the perfect backdrop for capturing the daily hustle and bustle of Keller Williams Brighton. Filming the b-roll around the office allowed me to showcase the collaborative and dynamic environment in which these real estate professionals operate. From bustling workstations to strategic meetings, every frame sought to encapsulate the spirit of teamwork and dedication that defines Keller Williams Brighton. It was also a bright sunny day out, so that also helped.

The Heart of Keller Williams Brighton: Choosing to build the Michigan Home Team out of Keller Williams in Brighton was not just a strategic decision; it was a commitment to core values. Tracy and Dominic emphasized the importance of creating win-win situations and always working with integrity. These principles resonated with me, and I wanted to ensure they were at the forefront of the video, defining the heart of Keller Williams Brighton.

Closing Thoughts:

As a director and producer, my goal was to craft a visual narrative that goes beyond the surface of real estate transactions and set expectations of service for the viewer. Keller Williams Brighton is not just a place where properties change hands; it’s a community driven by values and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives. Through this video, I hope to share the passion, dedication, and values that make Keller Williams Brighton a standout in the world of real estate.
